Sprinkler Ordinance
In 2018, the City & County of Honolulu adopted Ordinance 19-4, requiring all residential high- rise buildings—10 stories or taller and built before May 1, 1975—to undergo a Fire and Life Safety Evaluation (FLSE). Types of Systems
Fire sprinkler systems come in several types, including wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge systems. In Hawai‘i’s residential condominium buildings, wet pipe systems are the most common. These systems keep water pressurized in the pipes, allowing for immediate discharge when a sprinkler head is activated.
